Optimus seeks a dynamic, organized, project focused Engineering Manager to help us to reach our bold growth goals assisting fleets in reducing their carbon emissions and achieving environmental sustainability goals. This role will be one of the company’s primary experts on the Vector fuel system technology. This requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software systems as well as a high proficiency in leading cross functional engineering teams to deliver customer projects on time. This position requires dedication to representing Optimus with dignity and distinction in a leadership environment.
This is a full-time salaried position ($130,000-140,000/year) to be based in Pittsburgh, PA with travel requirements (10-20% of a work year). This position will lead various customer and application projects to help create processes and execute strategies to ensure projects are developed in a timely manner. The main responsibilities of this role include researching and developing new products, building project budgets and overseeing the successful execution of projects throughout the year. Responsibilities

Function as project manager for application engineering projectsÂ

Manage cross functional teams with several projects in process at one timeÂ

Ensure project alignment with Director of EngineeringÂ

Manage the application engineering and product development teams, manage the tasks of the different members of the engineering team including all disciplines.Â

Develop Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) based on application engineering design criteriaÂ

Drive product standardization and best practicesÂ
-
Based on the organization's objective, set up department goals and coach staff to set up short-term practice plans, review and consolidate the submitted plans in order to ensure the department goal meets the company's targets.Â

Deliver Key Performance Indicator(KPI) inputs to Director of Engineering on a monthly basisÂ

Drive hiring decisions based on team resource analysis and leadership inputsÂ

Develop and manage document process and controlÂ

Create internal and external documentation used for testing, installation and training purposesÂ

Support sales initiatives by providing technical consultationsÂ

Procure software systems to aid in engineering efficiency and successÂ

Ensure safety protocols are set in place for all work areasÂ
Qualifications & Experience
Â
-
BS/MS in engineering fieldÂ
-
5 years engineering experience in automotive sectorÂ
-
2+ years in engineering management roleÂ
-
Deep knowledge of automotive products, manufacturing, and engineeringÂ
-
High level of analytical ability and strategic competenceÂ
-
Must have excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skillsÂ
-
Self-Starter who can work independently and within a larger teamÂ

Limited physical activity such as bending, climbing, twisting, and lifting tools, parts, and materials (up to 70lbs).Â

Work occurring in a variety of environments, including but not limited to: office, outdoor, warehouse and shop conditions.Â
