GENERAL PURPOSE
The C2G Engineering Manager is a hands-on member of the new product development organization and supervises a global team of quality, test, and R&D personnel. Primary responsibilities and accountabilities include: leading engineering development and test teams through product definition, conception, development, qualification and launch phases of the new product commercialization process within necessary timelines; supervising, mentoring, encouraging, motivating, developing and appraising direct reports; administering processes and systems for maintaining technical information; and collaborating with cross-functional peers in product management, marketing, sourcing, finance, sales, quality and customer service as technical expert on past and future products.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages multiple direct reports in test, quality, compliance and R&D in an ISO 9001 environment
- Collaborates on the prioritization, budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling of brand engineering projects
- Efficiently administers department cost center and capital expenditure budgets
- Leads the development of product test requirements and reviews technical hardware designs based upon product specifications, standards and regulations for global applications with input from the cross-functional NPD team and external partners.
- Reviews and maintains required engineering documentation to support new product development. This includes vendor data, specifications, drawings, test plans and reports, product regulatory, and other related data
- Assures a high standard of quality through knowledge of design practices, understanding of manufacturing capabilities, regular process improvements, and validation of all new products and changes.
- Implements design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) and FMEA to improve quality and cost
- Understanding of product compliance, regulatory and agency testing requirements (FCC, UL, CE, etc.)
- Leads brand Eco-Design (sustainability), VA/VE (cost), 8D (quality), R&D (technology), and product validation efforts
- Supports customer questions and serves as the technical expert for internal and external stakeholders
- Develops, procures and manages test lab assets including lab spaces, equipment, tools, fixtures and test materials
- Develops capability of test, quality and R&D personnel through training, coaching, mentoring and recognition, as appropriate.
- Manages performance of direct reports including definition and management of goals and objectives, performance review writing and delivery, determination of promotions and merit adjustments as appropriate.
- Provides effective, constructive and appropriate feedback and recognition to direct reports to foster a positive, proactive, collaborative, high-performance team culture.

- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks
- Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively
Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
- Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills
- Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively
- Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
- Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Minimum 3 years leading technical resources
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- General office environment
- May require regular ground travel to other company facilities
- Long-distance or air travel as needed (10%)
