As the Engineering Manager, the teams will look to you to…
- Encourage and model healthy team dynamics and psychological safety
- Support multiple teams without micromanaging the completion of work
- Empower teams to truly own their scope of the application, from discovery to research to implementation
- Cultivate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that Product, Design, and Engineering are best leveraging each others strengths across the organization
- Anticipate projects that may require impactful technical decisions and coordinate discussion, understanding, and consensus on an approach
- Have a high-level understanding of work undertaken by Engineering and can represent it at a departmental level
- Balance the distribution of product scope amongst teams, being mindful of team capacity, capability, and knowledge sharing
- Cultivate a culture of quality on the team, ensuring that engineers check their own work and that code reviews are of a high standard
- Ensure teams understand their customers, considering accessibility, performance, responsive design, and usability as they create
