Engineer Manager

The Engineering Manager is the leader of the mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams responsible for: creating and executing high level roadmaps and activity schedules; developing and executing design projects that meet safety, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction targets. Hillsboro functional engineering teams support both sustaining and development engineering.

Main Responsibilities

  • Works with customers and customer facing personnel to ensure that all of the required information and specifications are available and clearly understood prior to starting a project.
  • Drives effective cross functional relationships to deliver competitive and reliable products to agreed time, quality, and cost targets.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive plans to ensure product roadmaps, project schedules and support activities are aligned to Business Division requirements.
  • Ensures that all assigned projects are completed on time and to specification. Raises issues as appropriate if requested changes will affect committed dates.
  • Ensures that all appropriate procedures are followed including, but not limited to: Design Control, ECR, TCF, FTB, HAZOP etc.
  • Delivers complete Bills of Materials and specification requirements to Operations
  • Owns responsibility for workload, performance, work practices, procedures and personnel issues for the assigned engineering personnel.
  • Oversees time sheets for assigned personnel including time worked, vacation requests, sick time, etc.
  • Moves resources between projects to meet customer needs.
  • Collects data and report status, including workload and performance metrics for assigned projects.
  • Ensures that all appropriate engineering hours are recovered to meet budget requirements
  • Ensures that all engineering hours are accurately tracked in the Engineering Worklist and entered in the Routings as appropriate.
  • Builds a strong, competent, diverse, and motivated team scaled to the agreed project deliverables.
  • Works as delegated technical authority for products with a long term target to develop local techncial authority and products.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance; works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/ manager, and other duties as assigned.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience

Education level

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an ABET accredited international alternative
  • Engineering Master of Science preferred
  • Professional Engineering Licensure in the USA a plus

Relevant Previous Experience

  • 5+ years experience leading a technical engineering team
  • Preferred experience managing an engineering team supporting > $75Mil USD annual operational revenue.

Knowledge Areas/Skills

  • 5+ years experience in a Technical Customer contact role.
  • Prefered Expereince in a highly regulated and engineering centric industry.

Other Requirements

  • Current functional ability or previous experience in implementing engineering skills to electro-mechanical equipment design and development.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills.
  • Command of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Command of Engineering ERP tasks

Compensation / Benefits

Salary range is $150,000 - $195,000. In addition to base salary Edwards offers a variable compensation package.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within office building, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires occasional travel for 10% of the position, sometimes overnight or multiple days.
