Engineering Manager

Smartrr is the leading next generation subscription app built to maximize LTV for Shopify brands. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to help build the best subscription application in the Shopify ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Hire and develop engineering talent, building a high-performing team that delivers high quality products
- Coach, mentor and engage the team to help instill engineering best practices and disciplines
- Planning, development, and implementation of core functionality in concert with the Product and Engineering teams in a TypeScript environment.
- Researching new technologies and best practices
- Working in a team environment with shared code; disciplined use of source code control and process documentation.
- Continuously improving the coding experience for the entire Engineering team.
- Improving JS and CSS quality by conducting code analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building, implementing, and documenting Shopify applications
- Strong programming knowledge of JavaScript, React, and "Liquid" for Shopify Stores and Shopify Themes.
- 5+ years of React experience
- 3+ years of Shopify application experience
- 5+ years of JavaScript/Typescript experience, designing solutions, or developing business applications
- Increasing roles of responsibilities, including managing engineers, code reviews, and architectural design decision making.
- Expertise with JavaScript testing fundamentals
- Expertise with SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle, Maria, etc).
- Working knowledge of monitoring and alerting solutions
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or equivalent
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
Nice to have:
- General e-commerce development experience. Knowledge of other popular e-commerce platforms like Magento, WooCommerce, or BigCommerce.
- Familiarity with other programming languages (bonus for strongly typed languages)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (Datastore, Firebase, MongoDB, etc)
- Working knowledge of Configuration Management and CI/CD Tools
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
