Role Overview

As an Engineering Manager at Alpen Labs, you will play a critical role in overseeing the development of our cutting-edge Bitcoin ecosystem products. You’ll lead a team of engineers, ensuring they are motivated, aligned, and delivering high-quality solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance strategic planning with technical guidance, working closely with our leadership, product, and research teams to shape the future of decentralised finance.

What You’ll Be Doing1. Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Identify skill gaps and provide opportunities for professional development.
• Support team members in setting and achieving their career goals.

2. Technical Oversight and Execution

• Provide technical guidance and ensure best practices in software design, architecture, and development.
• Collaborate with engineers to solve complex technical challenges related to zero-knowledge cryptography, scalability, and privacy.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.
• Drive the delivery of key projects on time and within scope.

3. Strategic Planning and Collaboration

• Work with leadership to define technical roadmaps and align engineering goals with business objectives.
• Partner with the product team to prioritise features and ensure feasibility.
• Contribute to decision-making around technologies, tools, and infrastructure.
• Advocate for innovative solutions while balancing short-term and long-term goals.

4. Operational Excellence

• Implement processes and tools to improve team productivity and delivery.
• Monitor performance metrics and optimize workflows to ensure efficiency.
• Maintain a strong focus on security, scalability, and reliability in all technical initiatives.

What We’re Looking ForCore Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a role managing engineering teams.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of systems design, backend development, and blockchain technologies. Familiarity with zero-knowledge cryptography and Bitcoin is a major plus.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop engineering teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem Solver: Strategic thinker who can navigate ambiguity and make impactful decisions.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, design, and research teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in cryptography, distributed systems, or high-performance computing.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages like Rust, C++, or Python.
• Passion for Bitcoin, decentralised finance, and financial sovereignty.
