This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team within a mission-driven fintech environment focused on expanding financial access through technology. You will guide a small but impactful group of engineers working across full-stack products and infrastructure, helping shape both technical direction and team culture. The position combines hands-on technical involvement with people leadership, enabling you to mentor engineers while also contributing to architectural and product decisions. You will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative setting where ideas are shared openly and decision-making is decentralized. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in balancing long-term technical vision with rapid execution. Your leadership will directly influence product scalability, engineering excellence, and the company’s ability to serve underbanked populations.
Accountabilities
- Lead, recruit, and develop a team of engineers, fostering strong ownership, technical excellence, and accountability for outcomes.
- Build and reinforce a collaborative engineering culture grounded in customer focus, data-driven decisions, and resilience in problem-solving.
- Define and evolve the long-term technical strategy for your team while balancing immediate product and delivery priorities.
- Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to architecture discussions, code reviews, and occasional development work when needed.
- Partner with other engineering managers and cross-functional leaders to align on goals, priorities, and organizational direction.
- Remove execution blockers and support the team in delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions.
- Support continuous improvement in engineering processes, team efficiency, and delivery practices.
- 2 to 5 years of engineering management experience in a technology company or fast-growing startup environment.
- Strong background as a software engineer with experience across systems, stacks, or domains.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and support career development and team growth.
- Experience in recruiting and building engineering teams, with a thoughtful and structured approach to hiring.
- Strong technical depth and the ability to engage in architecture and hands-on engineering when required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments with evolving priorities.
