Engineering Manager, Friend Stories

We are looking for an engineering leader to manage a product engineering team of talented full-stack engineers building meaningful and engaging features and capabilities for Friend Stories. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class viewing and engagement features of the Friend Stories flywheel, and closely collaborating with the Stories posting team. The job is challenging, meaningful, and fun.

What you'll do:

• Own key top-line business metrics including but not limited to Friend Stories product engagement

• Be an active member of the Snap Engineering and Stories leadership teams.

• Manage and mentor a team of full-stack developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment.

• Develop organizational-level goals, drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the engineering team

• Collaborate with Design, Product, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders distributed across multiple offices

• Build, grow, and mentor a high-performing team, and develop technical leaders.

• Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering

Min Qualifications

• BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience

• Minimum 3+ years of experience managing a team of 8-10 engineers and experience with cross-functional dependencies

• Extensive experience (10+ years) working in distributed systems and client/web development. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments

• Track record of building, growing, and mentoring high performing large teams

• History of involvement in product roadmapping and decision making.

• Have a passion to learn new things, develop people, and make a business impact at a very large scale

To reflect this, we practice a “default together” approach and expect our team members to work in an office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). • The base salary range for this position is $220,000 - 320,000 annually

• This position is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus

• This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs

• The base salary range for this position is $220,000 - 320,000 annually
