Engineering Manager - Growth Messaging

The Team

The Netflix Messaging Engineering team is at the forefront of curating and delivering sophisticated multi-channel messaging experiences for our members and partners within our expansive ecosystem. This team manages and operates the platforms applications and channels that facilitate seamless communication between Netflix and its customers and partners at scale. As the voice of Netflix to the customer we deliver over 3.5 billion messages a week.

The Role

We are looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead the Growth Messaging product engineering team. This role will support key product areas such as Monetization Ads and Commerce Platform. The successful candidate will be at the epicenter of all  Monetization and Commerce communication at Netflix managing multiple high-priority highly visible and impactful projects while overseeing a team of nine engineers. This role will be based in Los Gatos CA.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of nine engineers through highly complex and highly impactful projects.

• Manage multiple work streams and high-priority projects collaborating with various cross-functional teams to identify project requirements and establish timelines.

• Drive the technical vision and strategy with a strong emphasis on overseeing its successful execution.

• Cultivate strong partnerships with your interdependent engineering teams

• Prioritize growing your engineers as leaders and technical experts

• Support and foster operational excellence within the team.

Must haves:

• 5+ years of experience managing consumer-facing product teams.

• Deep knowledge of how to build systems in a distributed environment.

• Ability to identify code-smell or poor architecture design.  We have fantastic engineers but everyone can use input and/coaching.

Nice To Have Skills:

• Experience working on Messaging.

• Experience working with ML Researchers Algorithm Engineers or Data Scientists.

• Knowledge and experience working with machine learning systems.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $190000 - $920000.
