The Growth Product team at Carta is an influential and high-impact team of product managers, designers, and engineers – and we’re just getting started. We fulfill Carta’s mission of making equity accessible by bringing as many happy users onto the Carta platform as possible. Our goal is to go earlier in our user’s lifecycle, by uncovering the need behind their needs. We deeply understand these needs and build products for our users who yet to need our equity management services.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Growth Product team at Carta focuses on building experiences that are adjacent to equity management in order to attract, delight, and build trust with prospective Carta users. We are data-driven and rely on product insights, market research, and user feedback to prioritize our work. As a team, we value transparency, accountability, user empathy, and fostering a learning environment for our teammates. As an Engineering Leader on the team, you will:Â
- Work with the Product Director (and the designer when appropriate) to decide and scope sprints in advance. Collaborate with the Director of Product to convert product requirements documents into actionable tickets with acceptance criteria. Collaborate with the Product Director to build out sprints.
- Run daily technical stand-ups with engineers to remove roadblocks and solidify tasks needed for completion.
- Create product testing plans and work with the Product Director and engineers to ensure high-quality product releases.
- Partner with engineers and the data team to identify the appropriate data architecture needs and work on preparing Amplitude and/or Looker charts, ensuring data quality.
- Own technical documents: Collaborate on the how and when with the engineering leads. This means leading discussions around ensuring optimum technical decisions are being made, the right architecture and design is being built, and work is getting delivered according to plan.
- Collaborate across functions: The Growth Product R&D team is outside of the larger R&D organization. One of your key responsibilities is to be in touch with the larger R&D organization and bring best-practices and/or red flags to the team.
- Engineering managers are the glue that binds teams and engineers across Carta.
- Manage performance: Your team is a reflection of you, your values, and your support.Your team will need regular mentorship, advice and feedback to operate effectively.
- Establish best practices: Engineering managers are the last line of defense for quality control, best practices and effective design strategies. Helping your team, and peer teams, navigate these challenges is core to the problem space for managers.
- Responsible for the quality of the code: Triaging and prioritizing bugs and scheduling refactoring into an Engineering plan.
- The Growth Product team ships quickly and the EM needs to be comfortable with frequent and reliable product launches. This includes team processes (project management, stakeholder management, QA process) and attention to detail (can brainstorm or provide feedback to product strategy, review designs, write/review copy, ensure proper functionality).
