Job Description

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to team of Hydraulic Engineers and Designers in support of various NOV land and offshore drilling equipment products as well as rig packages.
  • Liaison to NOV product responsible engineers, product line managers, sales, aftermarket/service and installation & commissioning personnel.
  • Liaison to NOV operations and manufacturing facilities and personnel.
  • Prepare annual budgets for departmental expenditures.
  • Participate in quarterly analysis of sales and workload forecasting.
  • Monitor and address the impact of group design output on Cost of Quality.
  • Promote compliance with NOV engineering standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Promote employee career growth and development within NOV standards policies and procedures.
  • Promote compliance with all NOV HSE policies and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Supervise creation of cost-effective hydraulic systems designs, layouts, detail drawings, bills of material, test documentation and engineering reports.
  • Provide cost estimates in support of sales quotation efforts.
  • Work with NOV operations and manufacturing facilities to identify product improvements to streamline manufacturability.
  • Provide, as required, technical support to NOV supply chain personnel for cost reduction and standardization of purchased parts.
  • Provide, as required, technical support to customers and NOV Aftermarket personnel for troubleshooting equipment operation.
  • Develop and grow relationships with hydraulic and pneumatic component manufacturers and distributors in support of NOV equipment designs.
  • Comply with and perform NOV Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Required - BSME degree from an ABET accredited program or other equivalent and relevant experience.
  • Required - Managerial experience.
  • Location: 6390 N. Eldridge Pkwy., Houston TX 77041.
  • Hybrid schedule (3 days in the office and 2 days remote work).
  • Required - Knowledge of hydraulic principles to be applied in various land and offshore drill floor equipment.
  • Preferred - Thorough understanding Teamcenter functionality, classification, and workflow processes.
  • Preferred - Thorough understanding of InProgress project scheduling and reporting.
  • Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, ProE/Creo (either preferred) or other 3D prominent solid modeling software.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical principles and equipment operation to other stakeholders.

Travel Required:

  • Occasional to NOV manufacturing facilities and customer sites.
