Engineering Manager II/Engineering Manager Senior - Agile Space Capability Lead
This position reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Engineering.
What You'll Do:
  • Establish and implement a vision for instantiating an Agile Space Capability Center that can execute on a new cost curve enabled by non-traditional contracting including commercial and OTAs.
  • Lead the Agile Space Capability Center that includes program execution, new business support, and tools/process development.
  • Develop and implement an approach for incorporating the applicable portions of the Agile Space capability into traditional FAR based programs.
  • Lead the execution portion of the capability center prioritizing work between programs, resolving anomalies, and re-allocating execution resources.
  • Communicate execution status including cost, schedule, and performance to SBUs and develop closure plans to resolve issues.
  • Support the SBUs in customer communication and meetings including design reviews and status reporting.
  • Partner with business unit capture managers to share relevant technologies and execution approaches to enhance capturing customer opportunities.
  • Lead the tools and process teams in developing, pathfinding, and incorporating lessons learned into the Agile Space tools and processes.
  • Serve as an ambassador to the mainline portions of the business to keep stakeholders informed of execution practices and to ensure that interfaces to the main line business are defined and functioning.
  • Serve on the Strategic Engineering and Agile Space Joint Venture leadership teams to provide broad leadership of the >$500M Agile Space portfolio of programs.
  • Lead the development of cost and schedule estimates for new business, perform execution risk assessments, and present results to business unit capture managers and executive leaders for incorporation into proposals.
  • Lead the execution team in development and on-boarding of new suppliers.
  • Functionally manage the Agile Space Capability Team including on-boarding new talent to scale.
  • Build/maintain strong and productive relationships with stakeholders throughout the organization to deeply understand needs/impacts and to build enterprise-wide advocacy.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • Engineering Manager II - BS/BA plus 12 or more years of related experience.
  • Engineering Manager Senior - BS/BA plus 15 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience in technology management and strategic direction preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of space based remote sensing system engineering is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, accountability, professionalism, and interpersonal skills.

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Relocation for this position is not available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEERING MANAGER II: $157,500 - $216,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEERING MANAGER SENIOR: $175,500 - $243,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
