Engineering Manager II/Engineering Manager Senior - Payload Test Engineering
What You'll Do:
  • Provide outstanding vision, leadership, and support to the Payload Engineering organization.
  • Lead candidate hiring selection process, assign appropriate staff to programs, conduct performance assessments, engage in personnel actions, and support salary reviews, employee career goals, and recognition programs.
  • May lead large projects or business operations as required by the organization.
  • Ensure technical teams are appropriately trained and have the appropriate processes in place to meet the needs of programs and are compliant with approved standards.
  • Anticipate and ensure talent and skill mix of the department are aligned with the needs of programs and new business development organizations. May include hiring, assigning, and balancing personnel for various programs.
  • Identify and execute initiatives to improve efficiency, promote knowledge transfer, reduce cost, and drive technical innovation.
  • Develop and improve engineering and technical processes; execute process corrective actions and Failure Review Boards, as required, support internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with ISO standards.
  • Support program reviews throughout the development lifecycle. Coordinate and support technical reviews and anomaly responses, as required. Ensure payload hardware meets performance, cost, and schedule requirements. Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate execution risks/challenges.
  • Communicate relevant management and company information to department.
  • Live and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statues, and regulations as well as company policies and directives.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • Engineering Manager II - BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
  • Engineering Manager Senior - BS/BA in related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Proven aerospace hardware test campaign design, execution, and anomaly-resolution skills are required.
  • Experience in the testing of spaceflight instruments or related optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, or aerospace systems is required.
  • Conceive, develop, and execute solutions to engineering management and technical problems.
  • Successful management of aerospace system integration and test campaigns which meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Experience through full product lifecycle, proposal through delivery, of aerospace hardware for DoD and NASA customers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the development of others.
  • Ability to influence, inspire and drive accountability.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Desire to participate in the healthy evolution of the enterprise, our culture, and how we do business.

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.
Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEERING MANAGER II: $157,500 - $216,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEERING MANAGER SENIOR: $175,500 - $243,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
