In this role, you will lead multiple platform-focused engineering squads responsible for building and scaling the core systems that power critical products and services. You will balance people leadership with technical oversight, ensuring high-quality delivery across data pipelines, infrastructure, and developer experience initiatives. Working in a fully remote, international environment, you will guide teams toward operational excellence while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in aligning engineering efforts with business priorities and driving scalable, reliable solutions. With a strong emphasis on process optimization and team development, this role is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex, fast-evolving environments. You will also contribute strategically to technical direction while occasionally engaging hands-on to solve critical challenges.
Accountabilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop multiple engineering squads, fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative team culture
- Own and optimize engineering processes, ensuring effective adoption of agile methodologies and smooth execution of workflows
- Oversee planning, prioritization, and delivery of projects, aligning roadmaps with business goals and stakeholder expectations
- Drive technical strategy for platform components including core systems, data pipelines, DevOps, and developer experience
- Ensure delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems, including complex data processing and integrations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to manage dependencies and deliver cohesive solutions
- Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as delivery timelines, system reliability, and team productivity
- Promote best practices in software development, DevOps, and system architecture across teams
- Step in hands-on when needed to guide technical decisions or resolve critical engineering challenges
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including significant experience in backend development and technical leadership roles
- Proven track record managing multiple teams or squads within a mid-to-large-scale engineering organization
- Strong background in system architecture, distributed systems, and data engineering
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum) and tools such as JIRA for task and workflow management
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Ability to define and manage roadmaps, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience building and scaling high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Data-driven mindset with experience using KPIs to monitor and improve team and system performance
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex, fast-paced environments
- Experience with blockchain technologies or developer experience optimization is a plus
