Job Description

Team: IT

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager, Machine Learning in United States.

This role leads a team of talented engineers developing cutting-edge machine learning systems for intelligent, real-time applications in dynamic environments. You will own the technical roadmap for perception, multimodal understanding, and edge inference, ensuring AI systems perform reliably at scale. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, you will deliver high-impact improvements in model accuracy, latency, and operational efficiency. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical contribution, driving both team growth and innovation. You will influence architecture, MLOps practices, and production-grade model deployment, bridging cloud-scale ML infrastructure with real-world device integration. Operating in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, your work will enable transformative AI solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~10 ML and AI infrastructure engineers, fostering skill development and high performance
  • Define technical vision, roadmap, and success metrics for perception, multimodal reasoning, and edge inference systems
  • Architect scalable ML infrastructure and platforms for training, data management, and inference, leveraging modern MLOps practices
  • Deliver production-grade computer vision and multimodal models optimized for real-time, on-device performance
  • Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines, instrumentation, labeling, evaluation, and monitoring to continuously improve model performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, product, design, and operations to ensure seamless integration and measurable impact
  • Prioritize work that drives improvements in recognition accuracy, system reliability, and low-latency edge performance
  • Requirements:

    • 8+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems, with a focus on computer vision in production environments
    • 2+ years managing teams of 6+ ML/AI engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development
    • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), model training, evaluation, and MLOps practices
    • Proven expertise in architecting ML infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g., GCP) and distributed training/inference frameworks like Ray
    • Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and optimizing models for real-time edge inference (e.g., TensorRT, ONNX, quantization)
    • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a track record of shipping end-to-end CV systems including data pipelines, experimentation, deployment, and post-launch iteration
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
    • Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience integrating on-device ML with mobile/Android applications and SDKs
      • Knowledge of multimodal vision-language models (VLMs) and large language models (LLMs) for perception and reasoning
      • Background in sensor and hardware integration, calibration, and dataset generation for real-time environments
      • Success leading cross-functional programs across multiple partner teams and delivering multi-quarter roadmaps
      • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in computer vision, machine learning, or robotics with applied or research experience
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive base salary with bonus and equity grants
        • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, plus wellness programs
        • Flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, or onsite) and supportive Flex First culture
        • Paid time off, holidays, parental/adoption leave, and home technology stipend
        • Opportunities for career growth and leadership development in a high-impact technical environment
        • Inclusive and collaborative work culture with focus on diversity and equity
