Carta’s Identity Pillar delivers trusted identity data across all of Carta’s core products. As the Engineering Manager of the Profile and Connect teams, you will drive the development of mission-critical platform services that deliver accurate profile information and seamless integration with third-party data sources. Leading a highly skilled team of engineers, you will collaborate closely with product management, design, and leadership to design, build, and operate platform services that impact over 2.5 million users.
The Problems You’ll SolveAs an Engineering Manager, you’ll work in one of the most dynamic roles Carta engineering has to offer. You'll help set the charter of the team and execute against that charter, all while guiding the career development of your direct reports.
Here’s a few examples of the problems you’ll solve:
Drive results: Create a culture of execution, bridging product, design, and engineering to deliver impactful outcomes.
Foster cross-functional collaboration: Act as a unifying force, working closely with product management, design, and support teams.
Manage team performance: Provide regular mentorship, guidance, and feedback to cultivate a high-performing engineering team.
Establish best practices: Ensure quality control, promote best practices, and navigate design challenges across teams.
Foster accountability: Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and set realistic expectations for success.
Assess technical risk: Leverage your experience to identify and mitigate technical risks that can derail our execution.
Drive hiring efforts: Collaborate with engineering leaders to recruit and develop top talent for the growing Carta team.
Manage stakeholder expectations: Effectively communicate with stakeholders to align priorities and ensure their needs are aligned and addressed.
You are a strong people manager with 3+ years of experience leading high performing engineering teams and 5+ years of experience as a full stack or backend engineer. Bringing leader-of-leader experience is a nice-to-have. You’re excited by the idea of developing scalable production quality systems and working on projects end-to-end. Our stack is React, Python, Django, gRPC, Docker, k8s.

- You are willing and capable of getting in the trenches alongside your fellow engineers and reports. You lead by example, and take pride in your work.
- You are energized by, and capable of, super-charging the careers of those that report to you. You’ve been able to help mentor more junior engineers, and support more senior engineers in reaching their full  potential.
- You’ve expanded the worldview of your teams, celebrated diversity of thought and background, and tied it all back through successful product launches in your past.
- You recognize the power of ownership, and have lived examples of where ownership played central roles in your career.
- You are exceptionally technical. You can describe complex ideas simply. You are just as capable working toward a long term road map as you are jumping into a fire to solve a customer’s problem 5 minutes from now.
- You are hungry to learn about our customers and business.
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. If you are located in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA, our minimum cash compensation salary range for this role is $192,000 - $240,000 (if applicable, + commission). Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
