We are seeking an expereiced Engineering Manager to lead several development team in Malmö. This role is critical to ensure effective management, strategic alignment, and risk mitigation within our engineering domain.The successful candidate will bring extensice experience in managing engineering teams, building high-performance distributed systems and foster a culture of continues improvements and collaborations.

Role Overview

As an Engineering Manager at Sinch you will be a key player in the engineering organization and your main responsibility is to the people you support; develop team members (career development), spending time recruiting and organizing activities to increase retention, and creating an environment so teams and members can thrive, while also being accountable for delivering results.

We are strengthing our Engineering team responsible for Messaging, and specifically Rich Messaging which is the new generation of messaging solution covering all major mobile messaging channels in the world.

Responsibilities

• Lead team staffing and hiring, including capacity planning, onboarding, offboarding, and coordinating promotions.
• Collaborate with tech and product leadership to ensure our teams have the right tools, skills, and processes.
• Mediate interpersonal conflicts, help team members harness change and help team members communicate as a team.
• Help individual team members develop their careers. Mentor individuals to become future leaders and encourage team members to cross-train so that the team is resilient to the loss of any one person.
• Provide insights about how well the team is fulfilling its charter and how its work is perceived by stakeholders, particularly management and business stakeholders.
• Actively work with employee engagement data to create motivated teams.
• Maintain awareness of the relationships between the team and its stakeholders, and help the team understand when and why those relationships aren't working well.
• Drive a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with our principles and values.

• You have a humble and open approach to leadership, and you love to lead, empower, develop, inspire and grow engineers, and have previous experience in doing so.
• You have experience in setting ways of working and team targets for engineering teams, follow-up on delivery, and developed performance on both team and individual level.
• You have strong communication skills.
• Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering or similar
• Deep knowledge in Cloud Solutions using AWS
• Fluency in English is required. Swedish prefered
• Strong technical competence in software engineering for instance in Java, java script, react. Understands microservice architectures, k8, Istio, fault-tolerant systems
• Experience in developing mission-critical, high performance distributed systems
• Can write code, even though it is not the main purpose in the role

Good to have

• Experience from Telecom and high transactional systems
