About the team

We are building a brand new Risk Platform that will protect Stripe users and businesses by detecting, mitigating and resolving risks related to fraud, credit, partner compliance and regulatory requirements. The Risk Platform will be the source of trust for the entire lifecycle of risks across all Stripe current and future products. It will enable us to observe the current and predicted future impact on Stripe users and businesses in real-time. Our vision is to build the future where business risk management will be a critical part of all of Stripe product offering designs from day one!

Stripe handles hundreds of billions of dollars every year for millions of businesses around the world. With our hypergrowth, we are continuing to expand our product portfolio with new offerings like Capital, Corporate Card, Issuing, and Atlas. Our Risk Platform strategy is a core part of Stripe’s overall Platform strategy. Our Risk Platform will detect, enforce actions, mitigate and resolve risks for Stripe products across the globe. In addition, it will provide Stripe and its users the critically required visibility and management capability for the entire lifecycle management of risk. To achieve this vision we need to build hyperscale, reliable and secure platform systems and services that will integrate with all of current and future Stripe products.

What you’ll do

Stripe Engineering Managers play an integral part in defining the roadmap and leading the efforts for building one of the most critical economic infrastructure pieces running on the internet. Our managers define the team’s charter, build the teams, evolve the collaborative and merit based, high velocity culture, and deliver the much sought after experiences that enable businesses on the internet around the globe. Our managers regularly take on big visions in their roadmap, build teams around it, and execute with their teams to make the vision a reality for their users across the globe.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of talented engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver services that will form the basis of risk platform, including data layer and business logic for the Risk Platform
• Partner closely with Stripe product teams to support their specific needs while maintaining a high quality and consistent product across each offering
• Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
• Manage processes to help the team do its best work and interface effectively with the rest of Stripe
• Recruit, coach and develop engineers
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience with minimum 5 years of experience with software development.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a technical management role, including at least 2 years of experience managing infrastructure teams and projects
• Interest in engaging with many other teams at Stripe, listening to their needs, and translating them into requirements for your team

Preferred qualifications

• Be curious. You enjoy learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work – in this role, you’ll learn a ton about global money movement rails, currency conversion, inter-company flows, finance and accounting and more.
• Be humble. It’s important to continue to learn and grow as an individual, engineer, and leader.
