You are an experienced and collaborative engineering leader, an empathetic manager, and a strong communicator. You thrive in a startup environment and have experience scaling engineering teams to build enterprise-grade cloud SaaS products that delight customers. You have a history of providing strong leadership and mentorship to a team of cloud SaaS engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
How You’ll Contribute
As the leader of the engineering team responsible for building WellSaid Labs’ enterprise-grade SaaS application, Studio, you will work closely with our product and engineering leadership to instill best practices, execute the product roadmap, mentor our teammates, and participate in the sprint process as an advocate for fixing bugs, right-sizing technical work, and addressing technical debut. Â
In your day-to-day, you'll work on:
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Technical Strategy: Collaboratively define and execute the technical roadmap for our cloud SaaS products, aligning with the company's overall business objectives and priorities.
- Architecture and Design: Collaboratively drive the design and architecture of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-based solutions, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and reliability of software deliverables through effective testing strategies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize the performance and efficiency of our Studio application, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to enhance scalability and responsiveness.
- Security and Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of security and compliance within our cloud SaaS environment, proactively addressing vulnerabilities and maintaining adherence to industry regulations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, the API and Infrastructure team, the ML team, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize features, resolve technical issues, and deliver timely releases.
- Resource Planning and Management: Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and staffing for the Studio team, ensuring optimal utilization of talent and resources.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering organization, implementing processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
- Delivery: Iteratively deliver the product roadmap by working with the team to break down big initiatives into smaller tasks for delivery on time and within estimates.
- Partner and support: Work one-on-one with team members to meet their needs, giving team members regular and constructive feedback. You’ll show concern and success for the well-being of others and do what you can to support people.Â
- Player-Coach: Work side-by-side with the team to use your knowledge to help the team solve problems and keep your skills current. Conduct design and code reviews with the team.
- Educate: Adapt and train the team in best practices for software engineering. This includes various engineering philosophies, including testing, documentation, readability, defensibility, etc.Â
- Drive Customer Focus: Help build customer empathy by introducing, discussing, and reviewing customer use cases.Â
- Embody WSL Values: Surface and lead discussions on the ethics and social impact of the team's work.
What We’re Looking ForÂ
To thrive in this role, you have experience leading the development of a mature enterprise-grade SaaS product/platform, building a solid team that enjoys working together to build solutions to customer pain points, and a genuine care for employees as people that meet or exceed your passion for technology.Â
