This role offers the opportunity to lead a team responsible for building and maintaining systems that ensure platform security, governance, and data protection at scale. The Engineering Manager will balance people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, guiding engineers in designing reliable, scalable services while fostering growth in their craft. You will partner with product and platform teams to translate requirements into secure, observable, and operationally mature systems. You will contribute directly to service architecture, mentor engineers, and help cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack engineers, creating clarity around priorities, ownership, and execution.
  • Drive predictable delivery against the roadmap, balancing hands-on contributions (~30% of time) with leadership responsibilities.
  • Build and operate backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems that support data protection, audit logging, security integrations, and governance controls.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, observable, and reliable, maintaining operational quality with service-level objectives, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to translate requirements into well-scoped, secure, and operationally sound solutions.
  • Encourage thoughtful use of AI tools to improve code quality, velocity, and operational efficiency.
  • Requirements:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend systems in SaaS environments.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers with a hands-on leadership approach.
  • Knowledge of security, governance, and compliance-related capabilities, including secure API design, access control, and observability.
  • Strong experience with event-driven systems and building reliable, scalable backend services (Node.js, TypeScript, or similar stacks).
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems and drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary and variable pay (U.S. range: $196,000–$240,000) plus benefits.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement and savings plans.
  • Flexible working arrangements with remote opportunities.
  • Support for professional growth and development.
  • Inclusive and collaborative work environment with accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
