Job Description
Boost is seeking an exceptional, hands-on tech leader to run one of our backend engineering scrum teams. As Engineering Manager/Tech Lead, you will lead one of our backend API platform teams and will have a major impact on the design and implementation of core functionality of the platform. You and your team will build awesome features that our partners will love.
You will guide, partner, and coach the team in everything from writing the best code to architecting subsystems and following through to implementation. You will manage and create development paths for a high-growth engineering team with major potential to impact the culture of engineering as we scale our rapidly growing business.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Engineering Manager you will…
- Lead a team of 3 to 5 senior and mid-level engineers ensuring team productivity and well-being
- Oversee team initiatives and ensure their completion
- Design technical solutions to deliver what the business needs based on complex requirements
- Build new platform features and improve existing ones, including core platform services and client-facing APIs, by writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code
- Work with product management and other stakeholders to plan projects and stories
- Lead scrum ceremonies such as daily standup and biweekly retrospectives
- Mentor your team through one on one meetings, semi-annual review sessions, and goal-setting meetings
- Improve technical and personnel processes
- Assist with hiring engineers to grow the organization
- Work with great tech: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, EKS, Terraform, and more
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of professional experience building backend solutions in Python
- Demonstrated technical leadership through managing teams, running projects, and architecting solutions
- Strong background in established engineering practices
- Experience in API design and implementation, preferably RESTful
- Experience in working in a product-driven environment
- Understanding of event-based systems and message queues
