Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Job Brief

As an Engineering Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in building and growing Twelve’s CO2 electrolyzer operations team. We are looking for you to add rigor to our production process, helping us identify opportunities to optimize and perfect our electrolyzer assemblies as we scale our capabilities from prototype to pilot production scale. You will develop and implement operationally efficient processes that optimize Twelve’s resource utilization. As a leader of the electrolyzer operations team, you will work cross-functionally with supply chain, materials scientists, process engineers, manufacturing operations, hardware and software engineering teams to champion operations across Twelve.

This is an on-site role in Alameda, California.

What you will do

  • Develop and sustain the electrolyzer assembly operations team for the daily production of Twelve’s CO2 electrolyzers. In this role, you will help us make the transition from small-scale low volume assemblies, to high-volume electrolyzer production, which means:
    • Drive operational efficiency by developing and tracking performance metrics, such as monitoring quality of process, inputs, and outputs to improve product yield, throughput, cost, and manufacturability
    • Provide on the floor technical leadership to mature the operations team with manufacturing best practices
    • Provide strategic input to development and engineering teams to identify process optimization and engineering design improvement opportunities for next gen electrolyzers
    • Manage reliability activities such as root cause analysis investigations (RCAI), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and preventative maintenance optimization (PMO), as well as assist in developing and implementing precision and predictive maintenance routines
    • Maintain the documentation of our CO2 electrolyzer assemblies. Generate SOPs, WIs, and checklists
    • Collaborate with development, engineering, characterization, software, supply chain and quality development teams for new product introduction
  • Manage, grow, and develop supervisor, associates, and technicians, providing guidance and support for career development, cross training, and performance management

Who you are

We recognize that experience comes in different forms, many skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. Even more important than your resume is a clear demonstration of skill, dedication and ability to learn. A stand-out candidate would show general technical abilities, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Demonstrated experience in high-throughout production processes from bench to pilot-scale, especially those that focus on mechanical assembly of electrochemical or related devices in a clean-room environment
  • Demonstrated experience with best practices around use of mechanical hardware and powered equipment (some examples include mechanical fasteners for stainless steel parts, plumbing of compressed gasses, hydraulic pistons, gantry cranes)
  • Prioritize safety throughout your workflow
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, specifically a non-exempt workforce
  • Excited to work as part of a highly collaborative, dynamic, and diverse team, especially through technical uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Ability to pivot and align the team on new strategies with clear and concise communication and new action plans
  • Strong project management skills to enable continuous process improvement and support parts and process changes as electrolyzer development advances
