Engineering Operations Manager
Job Description
Cox Communications is searching for an Engineering Operations Manager who will work across Engineering / Product groups / Operational teams to design, create, test, and deploy new and existing processes, products, systems and services. Engages cross-functionally with other technical / engineering teams to define requirements, develop concepts, drive processes, test prototypes and make real time adjustments to improve network performance.
Ensures all systems function End to End in support of Network Enablement, Operational Enablement and Product Enablement phases. You will drive the program delivery, deployment, and early life support functions for advanced Access Engineering technical solutions and platforms. Such programs will include Remote PHY, Mid-Split, High-split OFDMA, XGSPON, DOCSIS 4.0, etc. Common deliverables typically include the project charter, scope definition, requirements documents, work activities, project schedule, RAID register, change management and communications plan, resource plan, project budget, operational readiness plan, status updates, and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Leads all technical delivery activities related to Network Enablement, Operational Enablement and Product Enablement (include the following): technical, product and business objectives, project scope, implementation plan, project schedules and project budget.
• Develops executive level communications - briefing decks, financial models, etc. that will be developed on a regular meeting cadence and requirements of executive and program stakeholders.
• Working with cross-functional partners, systems, component, process, device definition development Adheres to company operations and related development standards and requirements.
• Maintains project schedule as well as perform budget and deployment analysis.
• Develops detailed project schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports; tracks key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet needs of the business.
• Communicates major milestones and identifies potential project risks; conducts regular status meetings to review project activities; manages prioritization procedures.
• Builds relationships with key stakeholders and project resources to drive key decisions and ensure timely project completion.
• Project cycle of typically 1-3 years.
• Actions at this level can cause or prevent delays, inefficiencies or unnecessary expense that measurably affect operational results of a CCI business or the efficiency and effectiveness of a team.
• Projects typically affect business unit(s) and/or entire company.
• Works with engineering and product leaders to analyze requirements, understand cost, performance and scalability considerations.
• Plays a key role in relation to both internally developed and externally sourced technologies.
• Participates in verification of complex technologies and components.
• May provide guidance and direction to more junior project management team members.
Minimum:
• 5 years of experience in related field (i.e. Project management, Process management, Engineering, Technical Operations) or academic equivalent training or projects.
• Working knowledge of engineering or related disciplines and processes
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
Preferred:
• BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (i.e. Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree).
• Experience in telecommunications industry desired.
