Engineering Project Manager
Job Description
The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB), as part of the Munich RE group, is looking for a Project Manager Renewable Energy with focus on Battery / Energy Storage. The role will be the technical resource for distributed and utility-scale energy storage projects as well as support the other renewable energy activities within the Munich RE and HSB group, such as M&A's, Asset Management and Insurance. This position is located in Hartford, CT or remote.
HSB Engineering provides technical and commercial support on Munich Re's ongoing expansion of the global renewable energy investment and insurance program, as well as providing technical expertise to the global company . Our renewable engineering knowledge, experience and evaluation are a key part of the decision and future development of the group.
The Renewable Energy PM's role is to manage the technical due diligence portion of MRe's potential investments. Particular importance shall be given to project technical and commercial risks well as the required actions to classify and mitigate these risks. The successful candidate will play an important role in the final investment decision processes of all renewable assets. In addition this role supports the asset managers and insurance business with its technical and commercial knowledge to develop and successfully grow the business profitably.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical / Power Engineering is required, a Master's Degree is preferred. Experience with financial aspects (project management, operations, etc.) is a plus.

- The evaluation of Renewable Energy projects including BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) and other Energy Storage solutions to meet project financial and functionality goals.
- Research and recommendation concerning Energy Storage market developments
- Act as internal subject matter expert for Energy Storage systems technology suppliers and technologies, including their hardware and software offerings as well as costs, systems architecture, operational capabilities, and warranties.
- Create and maintain the internal Energy Storage technical specifications documents and
- Support other Renewable Energy investment and insurance projects.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical / Power Engineering is required, a Master's Degree is preferred. Experience with financial aspects (project management, operations, etc.) is a plus.
Additional candidate requirements are as follows:
- Minimum 5 years of experience with the analysis and/or operation of renewable energy assets
- Experience related to BESS and/or other Energy Storage e energy systems design and/or operations, , renewable energy, or related industry is highly desirable
- Experience with international Renewable Energy is highly desirable
- Strong commercial and technical awareness and understanding of system components.
- Communication skills with all involved stakeholders, internally and externally incl. commercial, financial and technical in an global environment.
- Willingness to travel, both domestic and international. Up to 40% travel may be required.
