Job Description

Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently looking for an Engineering Specialist - EV Integration to join our team in Golden CO. The primary role of this position is to lead technology development and execution for projects related to integration and management of electric vehicle (EV) and charging infrastructures to the electric grid, development of advanced controls and optimization, and implementation and validation of the charging systems including extreme fast chargers.

Relocation assistance and future work visa sponsorship will be provided, if needed.

Job Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Develop and design new technologies for EV charging infrastructure in both AC and DC systems and help Eaton's products and services to differentiate and lead in the emerging market.
  • Lead the development of strategies for technology roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff, and consulting internal business and engineering partners.
  • Implement state-of-the-art concepts and solutions into quick prototypes, feasibility studies, specifications, and eventually into larger systems and product components.
  • Innovate, invent and challenge state-of-art design & process by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator in government and non-government proposal preparation and/or project execution.
  • Engage multiple business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, Universities, and Utility Customers.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in developing and designing technology solutions with a proven track record of developing high-quality technology.
  • Demonstrated strong experience in one or more of the following areas: EV charging, vehicle-to-grid/home, EV charging standards and codes, power systems automation, charging fleet management and controls, and communication interfaces related to EV charging.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 2+ years of experience in EV charging research and application development.
  • Extensive knowledge of the state-of-the-art DC and AC solutions for EV with good understanding of market trends.
  • Experience with energy system engineering and integration projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new research programs by working collaboratively with others across a broad spectrum of disciplines to accomplish strategic goals.
  • Experience in energy storage, renewable energy, microgrid, and their integration to power grid operations.
  • Experience in power systems control and optimization methods.
  • Experience in advanced data analytics and machine/reinforcement learning to address the emerging R&D challenges in modern energy systems.

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $109,500- $160,600 a year
