We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team in the Smithville, TN braking plant. This position will be responsible for running all aspects of the Manufacturing process on product in the Prototype Lab. This includes but not limited to Mixing, Pressing, Baking, Grinding, Painting, all testing, detailed inspections, and accurate recording of data.

The team is ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the role. You'll first hear from someone in Talent Acquisition to schedule a phone screen, and then the next step will be a personal interview with our Hiring Manager. We pride ourselves on moving through processes quickly, and you can be sure of transparency and prompt communication throughout.

This position will be responsible for running all aspects of the Manufacturing process on product in the Prototype Lab. This includes but not limited to Mixing, Pressing, Baking, Grinding, Painting, all testing, detailed inspections, and accurate recording of data.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all safety rules at all times, using all PPE as required daily; maintain proactive attention to safety, including keeping work area clean and healthy. Always inspect all equipment prior to use and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Must demonstrate Tenneco's core values: Will to Win, Make Tomorrow Better, Integrity Always, and One Team.
  • Run all machinery in prototyping process safely and by set procedures.
  • Take accurate and consistent measurements on multiple precision measuring instruments.
  • Accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Regular communication with engineering group and fellow team members to plan and execute the completion of orders through the lab
  • Take complex written and verbal direction for the completion and handling of lab orders.
  • Transfer and input data into the Fox system.
  • Visual inspection of parts at every step of the process
  • Maintain 5S in the area.
  • Keeping track of inventories
  • Provide assistance with production operations and new product launches when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school diploma.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ Years of Friction manufacturing experience preferred
  • Read and interpret precise measuring instruments
  • Comfortable with computer navigation and data entry.
  • Solid reading, writing, and mathematics skills including decimals and fractions
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Ability to self-start and personal time management
  • Prior setup experience preferred
  • Flexible work schedule required
