Position Summary:
Engineering Tech - Non Production role assists engineers with designs, and creates, tests, and manufactures machinery, consumer products, and other equipment
Position Responsibilities:
• Applies knowledge of engineering technology under direction of engineering and scientific staff.
• Work is more limited in scope and more practically oriented than that of scientists and engineers.
• Assists in product tests.
• Makes sketches and rough layouts, records data, makes computations, analyzes results, and writes reports.
• Prepares layouts and drawings of the assembly process and of parts to be manufactured.
• Estimates labor costs, equipment life, and plant space.
• Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions, such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
• May be required to draft detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet metal or wood shops.
• Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies and products.
• Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control including field testing.
• Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.
• Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
• May test and inspect machines and equipment in manufacturing departments or work with engineers to eliminate production problems.
• Maintains inventory of common parts, with the use of an internal part ordering system
• Supplement and correct the machine and system documentation
• Assist with Maintenance on troubleshooting and machine recovery
• Assist with training Maintenance with new equipment or procedures as needed
Essential Skills and Experience:
• 0-3+ years of experience in manufacturing (primarily maintenance or similar).
• Computer/Software/Manufacturing System knowledge of Windows, FANUC, Allen Bradley
• Experience and ability to function in a cross-functional team environment
• Good written and oral communication skills
• High degree of technical, hands-on ability with complex assemblies and components
• Ability to read and understand assembly prints
• Must be able to manage time effectively
Preferred Skills and experience:
• Machining and/or Assembly Maintenance Experience in Automotive industry

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools; or controls; reach with hands and arms; ascend stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear taste or smell. The associate must occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to an engineering lab atmosphere with some office exposure. The engineering lab includes a machine shop, where the associate is exposed to potentially hazardous equipment and moderate to high noise levels, both requiring the use of protective equipment to ensure the safety of the associate.
