Engineering Technologist

The Engineering Technologist is responsible for providing technical assistance and direction to the plant by managing the transfer of new products/specifications from Global Systems Engineering (GSE) into the facility, including bills of material and engineering drawings. This position is further responsible for the creation and maintenance of shop floor routings, rates, and Visual Instruction Booklets (VIBs) to describe the manufacturing process. All engineering changes are controlled and managed by this position.

What You Will Do

• Makes adjustments in processes using knowledge of machine and equipment capacities
• Actively supports the deployment of the TPM improvement systems
• Ensures constant communication with all levels of management in the areas of safety, processing, production, maintenance, and environmental issues to analyze and resolve problems or assist workers in resolving problems
• Proactively communicates verbally and/or in writing with management, logistics, production and maintenance department personnel to meet departmental and plant objectives
• Disseminates change information to all interested parties
• Maintains regular communications with the specifications group to ensure status is current on all open projects.
• Recommends and implements measures to improve departmental productivity and efficiencies, product quality, methods and working conditions so that downtime is minimized using teamwork and continuous improvement principles
• Reviews and implements engineering change requests in a timely manner
• Prepares and documents quotes for assemblies and components.
• Implements manufacturing processes/equipment that ensures conformance to design standards, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Creates and/or modifies shop floor routings and associated process sheets for all manufactured products.
• Maintains documentation of engineering changes and plant files
• Prepares and reports on status and direction of projects and equipment introduction/changes
• Investigates validity of the engineering change requests

Position Details:

• Location: Roscoe, IL
• Work week and shift: Monday - Thursday 6am-4pm (10 hour days)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry 50lbs
• Must be able to pass a drug screen

Minimum Qualifications:  

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in manufacturing or logistics (shipping / receiving) or 5 years of manufacturing logistics
• 2 years of experience in a Lead position
• 2 years using an Engineering Database, MRP, and/or PC applications

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Install, maintain, and service electronic equipment and controls
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic test equipment, implementing repairs when required
