The Engineering Technology Manager will be responsible for the administration and operation of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Team. This includes the administration of the team, budget management, special plant Operation's projects, division support and other special duties. The AMT team acts as the voice for the manufacturing team during the process providing leadership in the DFMA process, plant and production tooling, quality, cost reduction activities, and product manufacturability. Maintain a strong professional working relationship with all Toro manufacturing locations and develop an in depth knowledge base of all internal manufacturing capabilities.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
- Formulates policies and procedures regarding manufacturing activities during the engineering and design process.
- Provides leadership in establishing objectives and priorities that are coordinated with the operations, engineering and financial plans.
- Prepares and maintains budgets for the department, capital and expense.
- Develops and leads engineers and technicians in design and deployment of advanced manufacturing systems and generation of all supporting documentation.
- While personally responsible for certain projects, leads other department members in the implementation of advanced manufacturing responsibilities according to the product development system.
- Establishes policies and procedures to ensure that cost effective designs and process selections are made, that cost estimates are of a high quality, and that product costs are monitored and reported approximately to management in the 1PDS system by supporting the Cost Estimators.
- Provide leadership in the pursuit of new manufacturing technologies, methods, materials, and process approaches to achieve high quality at the lowest cost.
- Support the TCO model for the most effective parts for our products and support for both internal manufacturing plants and outside suppliers.
- Develop and implement training programs for manufacturing personnel regarding new technologies, products, manufacturing systems and methods and manufacturability.
- Prepare strategic plans in cooperation with management, engineering and allied manufacturing departments.
- Supervise immediate staff and perform timely reviews and performance appraisals.
- Participates in industry consortia where advantageous to the TTC vision.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent technical degree
- Minimum 7 years leading technology innovation, incubation, deployment, and support
- Proven leadership ability
- Experience with PLM (Windchill preferred)
- Understanding of Industry 4.0
- Understanding of systems network infrastructure
- Experience with ERP (SAP preferred)
- Experience with IIoT
- PTC ThingWorx & Kepware experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), Assembly Automation, Automated Test and/or Controls
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment effectively
- High aptitude for teaching
- Influential Leadership skill
- Proven leadership ability
- Ability to work in ambiguous situations
- Advanced communications, both written and verbal, skills
- Willing and able to travel (up to 20%)
