Engineering/Technical Intern

The ARA Better Fuels Group (BFG) is seeking an engineering intern to provide help with testing workload by offering technical and operational support to engineers on a variety of routine technical tasks.

Under general supervision, the engineering intern assists with testing logistics, gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

This is a full-time position; typical 8-hour shifts with occasional 12-hour shifts, days and/or nights, depending on project requirements. Overtime available as required.

Essential functions:

• Maintains necessary pilot plant documentation and logbooks.
• Maintains and operates pilot plant equipment in a safe, precise, and accurate fashion.
• Accurately compiles data to summarize experimental results.
• Carries out all assigned tasks in an exemplary professional manner.

Experience and skills required:

• High school student
• Mechanically inclined
• Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Computer literate, including MS Word, Excel, and other related computer skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Experience and skills preferred:

• Experience working in a lab
• Experience with LabView
• Experience working with Swagelok fittings
