Job Description
SUMMARY
LSI Education is looking for an enthusiastic purveryor of the English language. Teach ESL to world travelers and impact their ability to communicate globally. Teaching is set to start immediately.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
CLASS INSTRUCTION, MANAGEMENT & MAINTENANCE
• Arrive at school at least 10 minutes prior to commencement of class; start and end class on schedule.
• Prepare lesson plans and materials in advance for all classes in accordance with the weekly Level Objectives.
• Follow curriculum; supplement with additional materials as needed.
• Distribute and collect textbooks; return supplemental textbooks.
• Assign and correct homework.
• Advise student language development as needed.
• Administer and check weekly Review Tests.
• Coordinate lessons and use of shared equipment with other teachers.
• Maintain classroom and equipment; report any problems or needs to the Academic Director.
• Enforce LSI policies in regards to Attendance, Standards of Behavior, and Academic Performance.
• Utilize a variety of methods and teaching techniques to keep classes interactive, engaged and dynamic.
• Incorporate all language skills in each lesson.
• Post daily and weekly objectives on the classroom board.
ADMINISTRATIVE RECORD-KEEPING
• Record attendance daily; complete class register and turn in each week.
• Produce weekly lesson plans detailing the material covered in class, including set text page numbers and supplemental sources.
• Grade and record scores for weekly Review Tests.
• Assign, check and record homework, factoring missing assignments into Review Test scores.
• Deliver Attendance Violations, Academic Notices, and other documents on behalf of the Administration.
• Complete monthly student evaluations and other student performance evaluations as necessary.
• Inform students when to do Level Tests, Exit Tests, and Final Week Questionnaires.
• Fill out all personnel forms and enter timecard information online.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Attend, participate in, and present at monthly teachers' meetings and workshops.
• Attend related conferences, webinars, lectures, presentations, seminars, and workshops on ESL instruction.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
• Attend and participate in all-school events and functions (voluntary; compensated).
• Inform specific program students of scheduled activities, meeting points, and departure times.
• Coordinate and lead student activities (voluntary; compensated).
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
B.A. from a four-year college or university, preferably in a related field; minimum of one year ESL teaching experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CELTA/ TEFL certification a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, paraphrase, and explain proficient-level English materials, both of academic and colloquial content. Ability to respond effectively and sensitively to student concerns, questions, and complaints. Ability to create level-appropriate material with clear, proven linguistic application, providing sufficient instruction/scaffolding.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, conduct inquiry, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts for attendance entry, test percentages, and timecards.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
