English to German Subtitler (Subtitle Translator)

Culture Flipper is seeking a skilled Subtitler (Subtitle Translator) for English to German language projects. This freelance, remote role is ideal for individuals who excel at navigating the nuances of audio-visual media and can produce high-quality localized subtitles.

Responsibilities:

• Translate and localize subtitles from English to German, ensuring they are contextually appropriate for the audio-visual content.
• Independently create subtitles from scratch utilizing subtitle editing software while complying with standard industry formatting rules.
• Manage tasks involving acquiring, retiming, and converting subtitles and closed captions across various file types (e.g., .srt, .itt, .xml, .txt).

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in subtitle localization and editing.
• Proficiency in German as the primary language, with advanced writing, speaking, and editing skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using subtitle creation tools.
• Proven ability to adhere to strict deadlines and remain focused on tasks.
• Extensive experience with OTT services and proficiency in adhering to OTT style guides.
• Excellent multitasking skills, a flexible work approach, and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with an international team.
• Previous experience in the entertainment and broadcasting industry is a plus.
• Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
