Job Description

We are seeking motivated, self-starting individuals, eager to advance their careers as insurance professionals.  As a Supplemental Enrollment Specialist, you’ll speak with new and returning customers to guide them through the benefit enrollment process, determining their individual needs and steering them toward an appropriate comprehensive coverage selection. 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to effectively communicate the value and need for our worksite supplemental products.
  • Engage with new and returning customers to determine their individual or family needs.
  • Educate customers about their new benefits and answer any questions they may have.
  • Escalate problems or concerns to the appropriate supervisor and check in with customers to ensure their questions have been fully answered.
  • Record each contact into the computer system for tracking purposes and monitor resolution.
  • Maintain minimum quality standards in both account maintenance accuracy and call monitoring expectations.
  • Maintain minimum standard of schedule adherence during enrollments.
  • During non-enrollment periods, performs the normal daily duties of the department for which they work.
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned.

The Supplemental Enrollment Specialist will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively and professionally.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding context, written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Time Management: Managing one's own time.
  • Problem Sensitivity: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. This does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Written Comprehension: The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of experience in at least one of the following areas, Policy Owner Services, Claims, Customer Service, Employer Services Group, or Premium Accounting
  • LOMA a plus
  • Non-resident health insurance license required
