  • What You Will Do:

  • See the overall picture of the technical architecture of our IT domain. Look for opportunities to provide a better customer experience, remove redundancy, and encourage policy and procedure alignment.
  • Provide software architecture guidance by serving as the liaison between regional and enterprise technology teams and ensuring good security and quality practices are established and maintained within IT project teams.
  • Evaluate commercial off the shelf software for suitability and integration with existing eco systems.
  • Provide visibility to our technology footprint and streamline the collection and maintenance of the data to optimize the lifecycle management of those products. Use this information for application rationalization and to map our business architecture capabilities to our technology roadmap.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with others in Architecture Hub, an organization of technical leaders and subject matter experts from across IT whose mission is to support the architecture needs of projects as they move through the Global Portfolio Management process.
  • Communicate technical architecture direction and how it relates to business objectives to all levels of the organization through documentation, training, and awareness.
  • Analyze and assess IT strategy to ensure alignment with appropriate business needs, goals, and strategic direction.
  • Design or advise in designing enterprise reference architectures with a mindset for balancing agile delivery of business objectives with long term stability, scalability, reusability, technical feasibility, and global applicability (balance speed vs. cost vs. quality).
  • Advise in designing interactions between systems that are secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant using standard methodologies across the enterprise.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members and across the Allegion IT teams.
  • Develop technical strategies that can be consistently applied across the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise standards for application and technical ecosystem architecture.
  • Identify technical risk in projects and develop mitigation strategies to alleviate it .
  • Advocate for the implementation and utilization of best practices across the enterprise.
  • Support innovation through creative approach to software and hardware architecture, design and development.
  • Analyze existing business processes and software then recommend design improvements.
  • Employ basic root cause analysis to identify issues, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives.
  • Limited travel is required

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Technology related discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of enterprise applications required.
  • Have a passion for technology and willingness to explore emerging technologies for practical business purposes.
  • Bring an upbeat, positive attitude while enjoying working with an agile team to develop innovative technical solutions to help enable business growth, more reliable customer interactions, a secure foundation and ultimately improved customer satisfaction.
  • Have the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, with various team members in roles that are both technical and non-technical particularly to give direction to other team members or present business value of various initiatives to leadership.
  • Be apt at quickly understanding new business domains and be creative and thoughtful about applying technology to improve processes and issues.
  • Proactively work to coordinate efforts with employees at all levels including internal business partners, other technology teams, external suppliers/consultants, service providers, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams that may be globally co-located.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise architecture design.
  • Experience designing applications that collectively integrate custom software, cloud architectures and commercial off-the-self software, and possess a keen awareness of the services available and benefits or trade-offs of each paradigm.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in software development methodologies and best practices, application lifecycle management, and development and automation tooling.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
