This role will help plan, architect, and transform Markel's technology.
Architecture Advancement:
- Produce architectures that align with the business goals and requirements, as well as the enterprise architecture principles and standards.
- Design solutions that run full stack on Azure (PaaS, Serverless, Functions, API Management)
- Design complex hybrid-cloud solutions
- Roll up sleeves and write code to create proof of concepts using Python or .NET
Architecture Consulting:
- Break down silos and build an environment where people and technology thrive together to achieve more than would separately
- Produce architectures to communicate direction to business partners, IT stakeholders, Solution Architects, and Engineering Leads.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies, trends, and innovations that can enhance the enterprise architecture and support the business objectives.
- Create crisp, excellent, and compelling presentations that can be catered to work up and down several organizational levels.
- Generating ideas for Proof of Concept / Proof of Value projects that demonstrate the feasibility and viability of new solutions or approaches
Architecture Governance:
- As voting member of Technical Architecture Committee will review designs to ensure they fit with the standards and direction of company.
- Write standards, patterns, and guardrails for multiple domains.

Work Experience
- 15+ years of technology experience
- At least 2 project experience in Domain Driven Design techniques for Microservices architecture, preferable in Insurance/Finance domain
- At least 1-2 project experiences in Microservice design patterns for implementation of Performance, Resilience, Security
- Experience in frameworks related to Observability, Caching, Integration with Event Bus Platforms, Key Vault etc
- Experience with Build tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, and others to drive CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Azure
- Insurance experience a plus
- Ability to travel to other offices across USA

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $170-180k with a 45% bonus potential.
