Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the development and execution of field communications initiatives across internal and external channels. This position will research, write, and edit communications pieces and manage communications projects that deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time. The role strongly collaborates with Line of Business (LOB) leaders, along with EMC colleagues, to drive internal and external messaging alignment around strategic goals and priorities of the business. A natural storyteller and experienced communications professional, this person holds a deep understanding of best practices and compliance standards. The Enterprise Communications Manager is also able to generate innovative ideas and deliver clear, concise, and compelling content from start to finish using different methods intended to reach diverse audiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 40% Manage and execute Field Communications for the LOB, including newsletters directed at sales/distribution partners. Maximize understanding and consideration of business solutions across audiences. Develop creative content that drives growth and deepens understanding of complex topics.
  • 30% Document and maintain an editorial calendar of key message points and delivery activity. Drive consistency in messaging, internally and externally. Deliver content that is consistent with the OneAmerica writing style, voice, tone and compliance standards. Plan and align content with enterprise and line of business priorities.
  • 20% Participate on cross-functional business teams as the EMC subject matter expert (SME), recommending communications to raise awareness with distribution partners and customers of operational information. Develop communications and manage delivery through proper channels. Simplify complex operational content to ensure understanding. Provide editorial leadership to help improve the customer experience.
  • 10% Actively participate in Portfolio Aligned Team meetings and activities. Proactively bring industry and business perspectives. Be a model for strategic thinking to drive improved outcomes. Mentor junior associates in the business. Manage and prioritize multiple projects.


Job Requirements

Required Education and/or Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience


Required Work Experience

  • At least 5 years combined experience in a communications and/or marketing role is required.
  • At least 3 years of Financial Services Industry experience highly desired
  • Ability to self-organize and self-manage to achieve results in a fast-paced and information rich environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills. Must be comfortable communicating to peers and leaders.
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background


Salary Band: 06B

As a condition of employment, OneAmerica requires that all new hires who receive a job offer on or after April 18, 2022 provide evidence of full or partial vaccination against COVID-19 within three days of accepting an offer letter with OneAmerica and before employment begins. This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN.The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in IN as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
