Data is a key pillar of a modern enterprise, and foundational to Navitaire's Enterprise Architecture strategy and vision. Navitaire is looking for a hands-on data architect who will play a critical role in shaping and optimizing the data architecture vision and strategy. The enterprise data architect will serve as the lead architect for the transversal data domain and will be a key team member of the enterprise architecture department at Navitaire.
A successful enterprise data architect will be responsible for building a data architecture strategy and roadmap for the data domain. They will contribute to the deliverables, and implementation of the strategy and architecture, at times working with various engineering teams to help integrate data solutions. They achieve this goal by working closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, business analysts, platform team, and other stakeholders, to capture data utilization, integration, and management needs. They deliver results by designing, developing, and helping with implementation of robust and scalable data solutions, producing data architecture roadmaps and strategies.
This role requires effective communication and collaboration skills to work across groups - including Engineering, Security, Operations, Platform, and Delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and design the enterprise data architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals, scalability, security, and performance requirements.
2. Identify data sources, define data integration strategies, and establish data integration patterns and best practices for teams to integrate with Navitaire's Big Data Platform.
3. Participate in data governance processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Design, and help teams implement relational and non-relational databases, considering factors such as data volume, velocity, variety, and complexity. Help teams in defining indexing strategies, partitioning schemes, and retention policies to improve data retrieval and storage efficiency.
5. Collaborate with cybersecurity team to establish data security and privacy controls, including access controls, encryption, and data masking. Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
6. Define and evangelize data modeling standards, naming conventions, and data classification frameworks. Contribute to Enterprise Architecture standards and promote the use of industry best practices for data modeling, ensuring consistency and reusability across the organization.
7. Support warehousing, integration, and reporting initiatives with the company in collaboration with product teams to implement data analytics and reporting solutions.
8. Collaborate closely with the technology team to deliver data use-cases and participate in evaluation of data technologies. Promote adoption of platform data technologies
About the Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of proven experience as an architect in a modern data stack which includes big data technologies, in an enterprise environment
- Strong expertise in data modeling, database design, and data integration patterns
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Experience with big data concepts and technologies for storage, analysis, and visualizations (ex: Apache suite, Databricks, Tableau etc.)
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies (ex: Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
- Experience in one or more coding languages, preferably .NET and C#
- Understanding of SDLC and CI/CD practices, and experience working in an agile environment
- Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
