Enterprise Data Architect
Job Description
As an Enterprise Data Architect at JM Family, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data architecture strategy and ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of our enterprise data assets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, efficient, and robust data solutions that support our business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Data Strategy Support: Assist in establishing and sustaining a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business goals and objectives. Identify opportunities to leverage data as a strategic asset for the organization.
- Data Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, flexible, and secure data architectures that support current and future business needs. Define data standards, best practices, and guidelines for data management and governance. Interprets and delivers impactful strategic plans improving data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps.
- Data Modeling: Design and develop reasonable and physical data models to support business requirements. Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Data Integration and ETL/ELT: Define and implement data integration strategies to ensure seamless flow of data across systems and platforms. Design and optimize ETL processes to proficiently extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources leveraging batch, near-real-time and real-time integration patterns
- Data Governance and Quality: Establish data governance frameworks and processes to ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement data quality initiatives to monitor, cleanse, and enhance data accuracy and completeness.
- Data Security and Privacy: Implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Define access controls, encryption standards, and data masking techniques to safeguard data assets.
- Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Evaluate emerging technologies and tools in the data management space. Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance data capabilities and drive operational efficiency. Defines and implements the long-term technology strategy and innovations roadmaps across analytics, data engineering and data platforms.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to understand requirements, priorities, and constraints.
- Manage senior business stakeholders to secure well-developed involvement and ensure that the delivery of data efforts aligns with longer-term strategic roadmaps.
- Communicate appropriately with technical and non-technical stakeholders to articulate data architecture concepts and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
- Proven experience of 15+ years as a data architect or similar role in a large enterprise environment
- In-depth knowledge of data architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio) and database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Mongo)
- Well-developed knowledge of data integration techniques, ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory), and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security protocols
- Exemplary analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate successfully across teams and levels of the organization
- Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, negotiation, and the demonstrated ability to proficiently use storytelling to convey complex technical concepts in easily understood terms and anecdotes
- Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
- Demonstrated ability to develop business case financial models to quantify benefit and return on investment of enterprise architecture options and alternatives
- Balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions and organizational goals
- Translate business needs into Enterprise Architecture requirements
- Rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
- Strong management skills including the ability to establish clarity of vision, and measurable outcomes, build strong relationships, inspire action, and manage timeline, resource, and scope to ensure successful execution
- Impressive written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Impressive planning and organizational skills
- Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture
