Summary:

Autodesk is looking for an Enterprise Data Architect that can craft the models that define our internal customer-based data products and be a trusted advisor and solution architect to our enterprise data engineering teams.

Keeping a keen eye on the bigger picture, you will define and maintain high-level conceptual models, logical models, and data contracts for customer domain business objects and advise how these are incorporated into the relevant data products. In collaboration with Data Product Managers, you will influence the handling of data across end-to-end flows that traverse various processes to ensure that it arrives fit for purpose to serve its intended business use cases.

Staying on top of the latest innovations around data systems and flows must be a passion of yours. As part of a larger enterprise ecosystem, our engineering teams will look to you for guidance on how to build modern cloud-based data systems and services that scale to meet the needs of our business.

Our team is versatile, polyglot, and cross-functional. We work in Python, AWS, Snowflake, NodeJS, Scala, Elasticsearch, Terraform, and much more. The team is geographically dispersed, and values transparent, collaborative communication and cooperation.

Responsibilities:

• Ownership of platform and domain architecture for Enterprise Data Management systems and related components in the Customer Domain
• Consulting and collaborating with stakeholders and other architects to adequately understand requirements for software architecture and implementation
• Evangelizing, defending, and adapting architecture decisions and direction according to business drivers
• Defining and consideration of the full lifecycle of software systems and components
• Work with Enterprise Architects to align on Data Architecture and the Enterprise Data Lifecycle Management for business objects
• Creation of conceptual models and logical data models for customer domain business objects
• Consultation to source system architects to ensure understanding as they translate your logical models into their physical models
• Translating logical data models into data contracts
• Maintaining a vision and strategy for applying best practices from the industry to improve the quality of data and the way it is consumed
• Research and business analysis related to upcoming initiatives
• Consciously monitoring implementation to ensure non-functional requirements such as availability, scalability, reliability, security, compliance, governance are all in place.

Desired Qualifications:

• 10+ years' experience delivering software with a strong focus on data, working throughout a cross-section of the software engineering spectrum (APIs, front-end, backend, security, data, service, persistence layers, automated testing, etc.)
• Data Modeling experience
• Demonstrable experience as an architect for a large organization in major software domains
• Strong experience in API (REST/SOAP) and Pub/Sub architecture with hands on implementation experience at scale
• Experience serving as architect for applications on cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
• Operational/Analytical Master Data Management experience
• Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of an enterprise data model, metadata solution and, data life cycle management in RDBMS and Big Data environments
• Expertise in information and integration architecture and technologies
• Cloud Microservices application data modeling experience
• Strong leadership, problem solving, communication, and influencing skills
• A strong sense of ownership with a bias for action
• Not dogmatic about a particular approach and are ready to take the best idea in the room
• Confidence to lead and stand by recommendations in the face of challenges
• Comfortable working both individually and as part of a highly collaborative team
• Ability to adapt to change

You understand that conversations and compromises are part of the journey from a current state towards an ideal state. You realize that you must listen carefully to the business needs and factor in many variables as things transition. You use this to inform & influence your vision.

Preferred, But Not Required:

• Domain knowledge of eCommerce, Data Warehousing, Financial, Account CRM, and Financial ERP systems would be a strong plus
• Experience with Hadoop (HBase, Casandra), AWS (RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB), SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), Snowflake, and ingestion transform tools like Fivetran DBT is highly demanded
• Experience with Salesforce and/or CRM systems
• Experience with Compliance and Data governance (GDPR, SOX, etc.)
• Continued hands-on code-level expertise
• Strong Business Acumen
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (verbal/presentation/written) and the ability to facilitate dynamic meetings and discussions
