Enterprise Engineer II​ – (Mobility Data Ops)
Position Summary Â
​GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. Position DescriptionÂ
Our Engineer II is a key member of the Mobility Engineering Operations staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high-quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.
Position ResponsibilitiesÂ
​​As an Engineer II, you will:
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems for data ingestion
- Create dashboards that display next level metrics for consumption
- ​​Design and implement data quality solutions
- Design and implement solutions to manage data products, data contracts and data dictionaries
- Design and implement data lineage solutions
- Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycleÂ
- Utilize programming languages like Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services
- ​Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsÂ
- ​Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Assume ownership of existing business processes and servicesÂ
- Drive enhancement and continuously improve the quality of servicers and end user experienceÂ
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
- Work with senior engineers to define the technical architecture and support the implementation of new hardware standards/services from technical perspective
- Support projects migrating from existing platforms to new platforms
- Build product definition and use your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Analysis and Estimation skills
- Drive proof of concepts to test new technologies with hardware and software, working closely with cyber, network, and telecommunication teams
- Assure 24x7 operations and stability of services with high regard for end user experience
- Support the creation of the enterprise level roadmap in terms of supporting multiple vendors for future business demands
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient systems
- Provide knowledge share, mentoring, and systems training to junior team members as needed
- Consistently share best practices, and improve processes within and across teams
- Contribute to significant business initiatives, attend scrum meetings, and give presentations
- Solve difficult problems, learn new technologies, and push the boundaries of what is possible
 QualificationsÂ
- ​Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
- In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsÂ
- Understanding of existing Operational Portals such as Azure PortalÂ
- Understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, and JSON
- Understanding of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
- Understanding of monitoring tools such as Application InsightsÂ
- Intermediate PowerShell scripting skillsÂ
- Intermediate level understanding of Azure Network such as security zones, VNETs, and Public Peered ServicesÂ
- Understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
- Understanding of Azure PaaS and IaaS servicesÂ
- Understanding of security protocols and products such as of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth
- Experience in Datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including the Azure platform, and its native servicesÂ
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
- Understanding in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational Framework
- Experience with GIT and the overall GIT lifestyle
- Experience with GraphDB
- Experience with Big Data and the tooling on our Big Data Platform (Hadoop, Hive, Kafka)
- Experience with Load test tooling (Gatling)
- Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Influx, Spark GUI, Yarn Logs, ETL Metrics, and Grafana
- Experience with Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of Java programming fundamentals
- Understanding of Spring Boot Framework
- Web Service APIs with technologies such as Rest and GraphQL
- Experience with SQL Queries
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory, etc.)
- Experience with Spark and Scala with a beginning understanding of DSaT MDF
- Experience with Enterprise Reporting Tool (Qlik or MicroStrategy)
- Analysis and Estimation skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Strong oral and written communication skillsÂ
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
 ExperienceÂ
- ​​2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience in Big Data
- ​2+ years of experience with architecture and designÂ
- ​2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud serviceÂ
- ​2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks​Â
EducationÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceÂ

Annual Salary
$80,000.00 - $160,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
