The Enterprise Infrastructure Architect is responsible for defining the strategic technology direction for MEMIC’s infrastructure. They create and maintain the Strategic Infrastructure Roadmap that aligns and supports the Business and Application Architecture Roadmaps. They are also responsible for establishing architectural standards to minimize complexity of the IT Infrastructure. This position works closely with the Infrastructure Engineers to research and select infrastructure solution options. This position also requires creating/maintaining a strategic partnership with external technology vendors such as Dell/EMC, Cisco, and Microsoft to understand their future direction and product roadmaps.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define the recommended strategic direction for MEMIC’s Hybrid-IT Infrastructure that includes the creation and continual maintenance of an Infrastructure Roadmap.
- Identify viable infrastructure solution options that meet the needs of the company with the assistance of other IT teams.
- Create the high level design of Infrastructure solutions independent of host location.
- Interact with other IT teams including DevOps to collaborate, share, and provide technical expertise, direction, guidance, and task execution.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the Infrastructure Engineering’s Technical Owners to ensure project/task execution, prioritization, and processes have consistent infrastructure framework applied across the company.
- Collaborate with the Director, IT Infrastructure to provide technical feedback, support, and execution where deemed needed.
- Responsible for the ownership of all global infrastructure (I.e., all data centers independent of location, etc.)
- Review all Infrastructure project proposals to ensure there is an architectural fit.Â
- Develop, review, and submit plans, schedules and other technical documents.
- Ensure compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards.
Requirements:Â
- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience in an IT Infrastructure Engineering/Architectural role, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of compute, storage and networking, as well as applications, regardless of platform or host location, e.g., on premise, off premise or cloud.
- Ability to think broadly and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology hype.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups.
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize is required.
