Overview of the position
As a Technical Developer within the Enterprise Output team, you will play a key role in developing key technical components supporting our print and digital publishing capabilities/environments across the Enterprise. Working under the guidance of Tech Leads, you will take on varied assignments that are challenging and support key strategies aligned to drive the success and profitability of the lines of business we support. You will have opportunities to build your technical knowledge of several platform tools including but not limited to Open Text's xPression, xCP, and Enterprise Content Management (Documentum). The ideal candidate will be able to quickly adapt to new software tools and be analytical in the application of solutions going forward. We embrace the Agile principles and utilize both Scrum and Kanban, so experience in these methodologies is essential.

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$82,160 - $123,240

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Effectively building and delivering application components under the supervision of a Technical Lead
- The ability to develop quality code, test, participate in code walkthroughs, support implementation, and solve technical issues quickly and accurately with all required documentation
- Learning new technologies through partnering with team members, self-study, formal training, and other means provided by management
- Supporting project deliverables from a technical perspective that may be outside of your assigned body of work and offer innovative tech solutions
- May have supervisory responsibility in instructing, assigning, directing, and checking the work of the resources within their section and department.
- Identifying opportunities to reuse strategic components and reduce over-customization.
- Promote collaboration and engagement with the team through open conversations with other partner teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (or similar) preferred
- 1+ year of Java programming experience (required)
- 1+ year of AXIS2 or Spring framework experience preferred
- 1+ year of DB (Oracle or SQL Server) experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication along with the ability to effectively collaborate is required
- Experience in Publishing platform tools, xPression and/or XCP is preferred but not required
- Experience with enterprise content management, including Documentum is a plus
- Experience working with Agile team structures, and using Kanban / Rally
- Cloud platform technologies such as OpenShift, Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and AWS, SPLUNK, Terraform.
