Job Summary
The Manager of Entertainment will oversee and be responsible for negotiating the agreements and scheduling for Crystal Enrichment Personnel, Entertainers, Musicians, and Youth Staff. Supporting all artists, musicians, and lecturers for shows, performances, enrichment presentations, and special events. The Manager will work closely with the VP of Entertainment in analyzing the overall operations budget to determine strategies for coordinating salaries, travel expenses, general overall operations, and special project specifications. Ensuring schedules are fulfilled consistently with the highest standard of entertainment & enrichment which exceeds guests' expectations.
Essential Job Duties
- Support VP Entertainment screening and/or auditioning Headliner Entertainers, Musical Groups, and Musician candidates by liaising with our hiring partners and direct entertainers to ensure correct scheduling is created to satisfy the onboard programming needs (though always considering financial implications).
- Source and confirm all Crystal Enrichment Specialists including, but not limited to, Lecturers, Instructors, Golf Professionals, Ambassador Hosts, Clergy and Junior Activity Directors.
- Liaise with Fleet HR, hiring partners & onboard Cruise Directors to ensure all crew entertainers are scheduled & hired correctly.
- Plan, schedule, and source theme cruises, working closely with VP Entertainment, Marketing and PR to identify correct voyages.
- Supervise and coach Entertainment Ship Specialists to ensure all entertainment and enrichment personnel sailing on guest list are hired & processed efficiently and effectively.
- Develop existing alliance relationships with our hiring partners & speaker agencies, as well as source and create new alliances.
- Develop and maintain the program for Junior cruisers, including ordering supplies as needed and working with external partners.
- Direct strategy for Onboard Entertainment Programs and Activities and ensure that program quality and content meet or exceed acceptable standards.
- Analysis QAP (Quality Assurance Program) results, supervision of corrective action when needed and ensure a drive for continuous improvement in this area.
- Establish and maintain Entertainer and Enrichment database and rotation.
- Communicate frequently with shipboard management, particularly the Cruise Directors.
- Ensure correct management of payroll budgets including annual budgeting, spending, and forecasting. Verify all contract rates are correct prior to issuing.
- Continuously monitor operational budget to ensure that forecast is on track; support VP Entertainment with annual budget proposal, as requested by the VP, Entertainment.
- Manage and maintain Christmas decorations for all vessels.
- Assist VP Entertainment with projects, tasks, and any type of assistance as needed and when requested.

Work Environment
Works in a typical office environment with quiet-to-moderate noise generated by computer printer, fax machine and light traffic. Traveling is required to vessels approximately one to two months per year to support onboard entertainment operations (i.e., observing artists and musical groups, observing enrichment talent or the implementation of new programming, implementing new production shows or special events, theme cruises, etc.).
Physical Demands
Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching. May require lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office equipment.
Expected Hours of Work
The position is full-time and frequently requires working additional time outside of normal business hours.
Requirements
Education: bachelor's degree in Theater, Music, or related field preferred.
Experience: 5+ years managing experience in entertainment, theater, or music industry (cruise industry a plus).
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
- Candidate should have a developed knowledge of entertainment operations and its administration, international travel logistics, maritime procedures, expense and cost-saving management, advanced research and investigative abilities, and managerial troubleshooting.
- Crisis communication experience and ability to operate calmly in high pressure and/or short-deadline situations.
- Strong understanding of brand management and executing projects to guidelines.
- Must be highly detailed-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude who works well cross-functionally.
- Resourceful, creative self-starter who takes initiative to learn processes and get things done with little supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment where strategic brand-building efforts are priority - start-up experience a plus.
- Excellent research, organizational, negotiating, interpersonal and networking skills.
- Self-motivated and driven to deliver company goals.
- Ability to travel.
- Oral and written communication skills.
