Entrepreneur In Residence
Job Description
Summary:
Techstars Seattle is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurially-minded individual to join our team as a entrepreneur in residence. In this role, you will help mentor and advise our portfolio companies, while actively contributing to the execution of our accelerator program. As a representative of Techstars Seattle, your network will significantly expand as you build relationships with the entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors in our ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of technology and the startup landscape, exceptional decision-making skills, and a proven track record in either founding, working in, or investing in startups. If you are passionate about entrepreneurship and committed to helping startups succeed, we would love to hear from you.
About Techstars Seattle:
At Techstars Seattle, we offer early-stage startups the opportunity to accelerate their growth and increase their chances of success. With access to funding, office space, a supportive community, and experienced mentors, we help founders find product-market fit quickly and overcome common challenges.
Since 2010, more than 140 companies have gone through the Techstars Seattle program, collectively raising more than $2.8B in private capital.
- Three companies from the 2011 class have become Unicorns.
- 86% of Techstars Seattle companies have exited or are still in business, defying typical startup statistics.
- The last three classes have achieved gender-parity at the CEO level.
- Three of the less than 200 Black, women tech startup CEOs in the United States who have raised $1M or more in venture capital are graduates of Techstars Seattle.
In 2023, Techstars Seattle will double the class size from 12 to 24 companies. This means more entrepreneurs can access Techstars' resources, mentorship, and funding, increasing their chances of success. A larger cohort will also foster collaboration and idea-sharing among participants, creating a more diverse community of innovators.
Responsibilities:
Mentor and advise portfolio companies: Provide strategic guidance and support to portfolio companies, help troubleshoot problems, and offer advice on a variety of business areas, such as product-market fit, growth strategies, fundraising, and more.
Network and build relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with founders, investors, and other key stakeholders in the startup ecosystem. Represent Techstars at public events and functions.
Contribute to the Techstars program: Participate in the execution of the accelerator program. This will include giving talks, hosting office hours, pitch feedback and helping to organize Demo Day.
Qualifications:
- Prior founder of a startup, either as a CTO or technical lead.
- Deep understanding of technology and the startup ecosystem.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to provide thoughtful, strategic advice to early-stage companies.
- Excellent communication skills.
This is a paid 4 month position, that will require 12-15 hour weekly commitment.
