Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Rail/Transit Engineer for employment in the Philadelphia office to work in an established Rail Engineering Department, serving national and international freight and transit clients.

The position is scheduled to begin June 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
• Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
• Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
• Applying knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects.
• Assisting a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
• Assisting in maintaining project documentation.
• Producing high quality plans that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Be organized and detail-oriented
• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
• Willingness to travel (if and when required)
• Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
• Familiarity in freight or transit rail clients
• Previous work experience in rail is preferred
