Entry Level Sales Leadership Rotational Program (LEAP)
Job Description
Horace Mann is offering a unique opportunity for employment in our 12-month Leadership, Excellence, and Acceleration Program (LEAP). This position is designed to prepare participants for sales leadership roles through education, mentoring and real work assignments. Each experience is designed to provide a core sales training curriculum in addition to meaningful exposure to a variety of related roles across our organization.
Each member of this 6-person group will have the opportunity to accelerate their professional growth and work experience through completion of the following curriculum:
- 12-month immersion designed to prepare the participant for one of our business development roles, depending on opportunity and match
- Successful completion of coursework, including self-study and in-person instruction, as well as experiences rotating through various functional areas of the company
- Collaboration with an assigned mentor from our field sales leadership team, ensuring consistent coaching and perspective throughout the year
- Your journey will include project and/or functional assignments to develop an understanding of Horace Mann and will include the following:
- Sales data gathering and analytics to solve sales needs
- Development of sales processes, including identification and critique of new or current data and tools
- Development and delivery of sales and marketing presentations, including high-profile instruction to peers and executives alike
- Niche-specific market access program strategies developed, analyzed and tested
- Follow up on various marketing campaign leads to schedule appointments for appointed agent/sales representatives
- Serving on and leading sales implementation teams for client (B2C)- or district (B2B)-level
- Earn related licenses and certifications (Property & Casualty, Life & Retirement), and begin preliminary financial certifications. If appropriate, Financial industry SIE, Series 6 & 63 are earned by our graduates soon after the 12 month LEAP program is completed

- Customer Service Mindset: “What do our educators need? How can I help?”
- Small Business Mindset: we are a “78-year old start-up.” Bring energy, curiosity and a sense of humor
Additional:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred
- Unrestricted, permanent US work authorization
- Must be able to start on June 5, 2023
Compensation is $20-$25/hour or $41,600-$52,000/year
This is a full-time, paid opportunity. Initial location is based on place of hire. However, there may be opportunity for relocation in the next assignment. Some travel will be required.
Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that the position may not be performed remotely from NYC
