That’s No Moon is an independent AAA game development studio established in 2021 by veterans of some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed creative teams in the world, including Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Santa Monica Studio, Bungie, PlayStation, and more. A remote-friendly studio with a central office and performance capture stage located in Los Angeles, That’s No Moon is creating the next generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences built upon a culture of creativity, collaboration, responsible production practices, and individual empowerment. We are assembling a diverse team of passionate developers of a wide range of experience levels and backgrounds to help shape the future of our studio and projects.
We are seeking an Environment Vista Artist with a passion for creating realistic, complex terrain and vista art. Working in collaboration with Art Direction and Design, you will be responsible for bringing next-gen landscapes to life for in-game and cinematic AAA content. We want you to help push the industry to new heights of realism, gameplay and storytelling!Â
Responsibilities:Â Â
- Generate and texture complex, realistic terrains based on real-world data such as LIDAR and DEM, as well as bespoke vista assets and skyboxes.Â
- Work closely with Art Directors and Environment Leads to craft build stunning worlds that meet design and technical requirements. Â
- Help build and refine aspects of the terrain pipeline, from concept through modeling, texturing, rigging, polish, and optimization.Â
- Collaborate with Tech Art to build a non-destructive and collaborative tool suite for landscape generation and optimization.Â
- Proactive in developing and documenting new, cutting-edge workflows that inspire fellow artists.Â
- Flexibility to contribute to other aspects of Environment Art production as needs arise, including general set dressing, layout, and world building.Â
Requirements & Skills:Â Â
- Shown production experience in terrain and vista creation for AAA video games Â
- Extremely proficient in Houdini and terrain generation software like Gaea or World MachineÂ
- Experience with any of the following programs - Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, and ZBrush Â
- Proficient knowledge of Substance Painter and DesignerÂ
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills Â
- Experience working with photo-realistic game assets in a PBR renderer. Â
- (Bonus) Unreal EngineÂ
- (Bonus) Experience or interest in capturing or using scan data Â
- (Bonus) Fine art background or educationÂ

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.
TNM offers competitive and comprehensive benefits that include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, unlimited PTO, supplemental life and disability, and more. Eligibility to participate in these benefits may vary for part-time or temporary employees. Â
The estimated base pay range for this role is: $83,000 - $111,000
