EHS Specialist
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist implements policies and procedures and proactively ensures a safe and healthy work environment in our chemical manufacturing facility. The candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in working with chemicals by conducting risk assessment, job safety analysis, investigation and resolution, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), safety work instructions, training, and development of EHS systems and procedures to improve key performance measures and integrating EHS practices into the company’s operations processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Generate Globally Harmonized Systems (GHS) Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for new and existing chemical products
- Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible
- Generate letter of compliance documents for shipment of hazardous chemicals to Asia and Europe
- Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. Make recommendations and identify critical actions for improvement.
- Develop, schedule, and deliver employee safety training on regulations, emergency procedures, policies, workplace safety, and other EHS-related procedures.
- Inspect, verify, and ensure the company always complies with relevant safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain inspection policies and procedures and establish a schedule of routine inspections.
- Develop and coordinate communication for all health and safety procedures for all company areas.
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures.
- Write inspection reports to document inspection findings.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- As required, maintain records of discharge or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with environmental regulations and policies.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related technical field required, with 5-7 years of experience in an EHS capacity in a chemical manufacturing environment
- A Master’s degree is desirable.
- Required experience with US federal regulations and reporting, including OSHA; US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
