Job Description

Chevy Chase Trust is a privately owned investment think tank offering independent and highly personalized financial advice and planning for individuals, families, and institutions. Located just outside of Washington D.C., the firm specializes in unique thematic investment research and asset management. Chevy Chase Trust offers clients direct access to decision-makers and is built to put clients and client success over everything else. From thematic investment management to estate and financial planning, we show our commitment to inventive thinking and client service.

Our global, macroeconomic outlook means we do much more than observe and follow trends. Instead, we seek out ideas. It takes more than one kind of person to contribute to this culture. It takes all kinds of people thinking in unconventional ways—with a singular focus.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since 1999, Chevy Chase Trust has provided wealth management to individuals, families and foundations using thematic investing in individual securities. Chevy Chase Trust is looking for an Equity Research Analyst to join our research team to assist in thematic research and contribute to our unique investment strategy. This encompasses identifying and monitoring themes that will bring economic change powerful enough to influence corporate performance across multiple sectors. We are looking for someone who has an inquisitive mind with a demonstrated passion for research in the investment space, particularly in the technology sector. The ideal candidate will be able showcase this with a combination of academic and professional achievement that provides both a deep understanding of different sectors and willingness to learn our unique thematic approach to investing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Within thematic research, the Equity Research Analyst will identify, monitor, and recommend positioning of individual names across multiple sectors and geographies to the Chief Investment Officer.
  • A significant portion of the analyst’s time will be spent researching, covering, and presenting on between one and three themes.
  • While traditional equity evaluation methods are necessary, such as basic modeling or valuation techniques, Chevy Chase Trust places emphasis on how long-term trends will affect a company and thus factors such as competitive position and corporate strategy are highly important.
  • The analyst will be responsible for providing regular updates (including earnings) to the investment team and research team as well as recommending positioning among covered themes, sectors, industries, and/or stocks.
  • The analyst will attend periodic company events, trade shows, analyst meetings, and sell-side conferences to learn more about covered areas.
  • The analyst will ensure that Chevy Chase Trust effectively communicates (in written verbal and other forms) the key concepts inherent in the analyst’s theme, its evolution and stocks embodying the theme. This will involve working in partnership with Marketing, Sales, and other functions as a content expert and will also involve periodic meetings or presentations to select clients, prospects and other audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS/ABILITIES):

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be passionate about identifying changes in the world and how they will affect companies across multiple sectors.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • General knowledge of investment products.
  • Ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency and experience using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with FactSet and/or Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the technology sector and technology investing is preferred.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • 2+ years of relevant financial experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree required

The Company requires that its employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have an approved medical or religious accommodation.

Chevy Chase Trust is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We promote diversity and equality within all facets of our organization, and we foster an environment that recognizes employees’ unique skillsets and ensure that all employees have an equal opportunity to grow and advance.

If you are a candidate in need of assistance or an accommodation in the application process, please contact [email protected] or 301-986-6000.
