The employee stock options system is broken. While receiving stock options should be a life-changing opportunity for employees, many just can’t afford to exercise them. Equitybee is here to fix this problem by helping startup employees fund their options and take ownership of their hard-earned shares.

Equitybee’s sales team is growing very quickly, and we are looking for an exceptional sales leader. This will be the first Equity Success Team Lead, reporting directly to the Head of Equity Success. This “player-coach” will be responsible for both carrying a partial sales quota and managing a team of approximately 2-8 salespeople.

The Equity Success Team serves as the “supply side” of the EquityBee platform. We work to help employee shareholders of startup companies prepare to successfully partner with our investor network. Startup employee signs up. Investors provide the funding. Startup employee and investors share the total overall proceeds when a liquidity event occurs (e.g., IPO).

This is a high impact position that will allow you to work closely with the leadership team, as well as cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, and Investor Relations. As an Equity Success Team Lead at Equitybee, you will play an integral role in our growth by helping startup employees understand our product offering and guide them towards securing the funding to exercise their stock options.

About the role…

  • As a salesperson:
    • Become an expert in equity compensation and Equitybee’s messaging, products, services, and unique sales approach
    • Manage all aspects of deal execution, from initial outreach to deal structuring and negotiation
    • Manage the complete sales cycle, including inbound and outbound phone, email, and IM activity
    • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms as required to close the sale
    • Be the face of the Company for startup Employees; build strong, trusted relationships with our customers (startup employees)
    • Speak the language of our customers and help map their goals to Equitybee’s capabilities
    • Keep organized and detailed notes in our CRM
  • As a sales leader:
    • Coach, mentor, and empower your team toward consistent success
    • Lead a culture of transparency, collaboration, and mutual accountability
    • Maintain an efficient and effective pipeline that will fuel ongoing growth and enable you and your team to exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
    • Participate in sales leadership meetings; produce thoughtful and accurate projections and action plans
    • Lead special projects
    • Test new sales processes, channels, and ideas before rolling changes out to the rest of the team
    • Evangelize the Equitybee vision and value proposition
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, and Investor Relations to help as many startup employees as possible
    • Maintain overall customer satisfaction by ensuring your team’s responsiveness and detail-orientation
    • Coordinate effective meetings, communications, and processes that scale

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of sales experience with selling financial products; proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • 2+ years of management experience and/or demonstrated ability to inspire and influence colleagues toward outstanding results
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses required. Series 24 preferred. You must be licensed to sell our product (We are willing to sponsor renewals as needed, and will also consider unlicensed, yet exceptionally qualified individuals on a case-by-case basis)
  • A proven ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in a simple manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of investment and equity mechanics and aptitude to build deep product and industry knowledge
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization techniques
  • Comfort and a demonstrated ability to achieve strategic goals in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Excellent team player that can also work well without much daily supervision
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • High professionalism and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly and execute effectively
